The implication of RDE norms is just a few weeks away, and carmakers are already making their respective moves in sync with the new norms. Honda has already discontinued the diesel variants of Amaze and City, and now, Hyundai has also come into action by discontinuing the diesel-powered i20. On the sidelines, the lineup of Hyundai Venue is also reportedly going to receive a few key changes.
The first big change is the revised tune-up for the diesel engine. Currently, only the i20 and Venue are powered by the fixed geometry turbocharged version of the Hyundai’s 1.5-litre diesel engine, while the variable geometry turbocharged version of the same engine powers Verna and Creta.
However, given that the i20 diesel is no more, Hyundai is going to revise the diesel powertrain of the Venue and introduce the VGT version of the diesel for the subcompact SUV. It means that the 2023 Venue diesel will have a 1.5-litre diesel engine in a higher state of tune – 115 PS and 250 Nm.

The 2023 Hyundai Venue will also get additional features like an integrated starter generator, which will see the SUV getting an idle start-stop system. It is the same feature which is available in the vehicles from Maruti Suzuki and Mahindra, and the Venue will be the first Hyundai offering to receive it.
It is also reported that the new Hyundai Venue will get side airbags as standard in addition. With this move, the Hyundai Venue will get four airbags as standard across its lineup, which is currently offered with dual front airbags as standard and side and curtain airbags only in the range-topping SX(O) variant.
Hyundai Venue got updated heavily
The Hyundai Venue received a comprehensive facelift in June 2022, which saw the SUV receiving a new front fascia and revised tail lamps with an LED connecting bar. It also received additional features like a powered driver’s seat and LED projector headlamps.
With these proposed changes set to be introduced, the new Hyundai Venue will be an even stronger alternative against its rivals like Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and even the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
Apart from the 1.5-litre diesel engine, the Hyundai Venue is also offered two petrol powertrain options. The lower and mid-spec variants get the 1.2-litre 83 PS naturally-aspirated petrol engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The higher-spec variants are powered by a 1.0-litre 120 PS turbocharged petrol engine, which is available with the choices of 6-speed iMT and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission choices.
