The country’s largest utility vehicle manufacturer, Mahindra, has once again hiked the price of its highly popular SUV, the Scorpio-N. This time around, the company has increased the price of the Scorpio-N by Rs. 51,299 across its entire range. Following this price hike, the Scorpio-N will now start at Rs. 13.06 lakh for the base variant and will go all the way up to Rs. 24.51 lakh for the top-spec variant across all cities in India.
This is not the first time that the company has hiked the price of the Scorpio-N. The first hike was implemented in January of this year when the company increased the price of the SUV by up to Rs. 1 lakh. The price of the Z2 and Z4 variants climbed by Rs. 75,000 since their debut, and Mahindra also raised the price of the five new variants that it had recently announced at the time. Furthermore, the cost of the Z6 diesel models was increased by as much as Rs. 65,000. Petrol Z8 and Z8L models also saw a price increase of up to Rs. 65,000. The Z8L manual with 4WD, which is exclusively offered in diesel, experienced the highest price increase of Rs. 1.01 lakh. On the other hand, the Z8L automatic models had the lowest price rise of Rs. 15,000. This first price hike marked the end of the introductory prices of the Scorpio-N.
This price hike should not be a surprise to anyone, as the Scorpio-N is currently one of the brand’s and the country’s most popular SUVs, and the demand for it has gone through the roof. Mahindra offers the Scorpio-N with two powertrain options that include a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that pushes out a maximum of 198bhp and 380Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the other option is a 2.2-litre diesel mill that generates a maximum power of 173bhp and 400Nm of torque. Both engines come mated with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. Also on offer is a 4WD known as Mahindra’s 4Xplor system.

In other Mahindra price hike news, just a week ago, the company also hiked the price of its popular lifestyle off-roader, the Thar, as well. The price of the base-spec AXE (O) diesel-manual hard-top rear-wheel drive has increased by Rs. 55,000, while that of the most popular model of the Mahindra Thar, the LX diesel-manual hard-top rear-wheel drive, has increased by Rs. 1.05 lakh.
The cost of the remaining Thar models, which include all four-wheel drive variations and the petrol-automatic hard-top rear-wheel drive model, has increased by Rs. 28,200. The pricing range for the Thar’s four-wheel drive model is now between Rs. 13.49 lakh and Rs. 16.77 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, India).
Furthermore, the entry-level variant of the Thar is now Rs. 55,000 more expensive than before, which significantly raises the range’s starting price. Although the company is apparently developing a new base-spec variation that would sit below the existing AXE (O) variant to undercut this base variant’s price hike, it is unclear what features will be supplied in this new base variant, given that the present base-spec AXE (O) already has a dearth of features.
