Skoda Slavia crashes into tractor and truck: Car still drivable despite heavy damage [Video]

The testament to the quality of a car can only be assessed after it suffers a horrific crash and keeps its passengers safe. Recently, a particular Skoda Slavia did exactly that. In this recent incident, the Skoda Slavia went through a massive accident and, despite enduring heavy damage, the owner and passenger walked out safe, and the car was still drivable.

According to the video shared by Nikhil Rana on their YouTube channel, the reason behind this horrific accident was that the Skoda Slavia, which was doing around 70 kmph on the Allahabad Kanpur highway, was hit by an overloaded tractor that had a blasted tire. After the impact from the tractor tire, the driver could not control the car and crashed straight into the right rear end of a truck.

From the video, we can see that the Slavia was lodged into the rear end of the truck. As mentioned, it was reported that the driver and passenger of the vehicle were unhurt as they were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. The video also shows that despite being severely damaged, the car still managed to move under its own power. From the video, we can also observe that the A-pillar and roof took a massive hit. However, despite that, the roof maintained its structural integrity and kept the passengers safe. This accident proves that the Skoda Slavia is an extremely safe car.

Recently, it was announced that the Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus, both built for the Indian market, received a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP in its most recent round of testing. The Skoda Slavia and the Volkswagen Virtus are the first mid-size cars ever to receive a 5-star rating under the new, more rigorous G-NCAP test procedures.

Scoring 29.71 out of 34 in tests for adult occupant safety, only 0.07 points more than their SUV counterparts, Skoda and Volkswagen’s midsize sedans received high ratings for the head and neck protection they provided but were deemed sufficient for their chest protection. Additionally, the Slavia and Virtus demonstrated satisfactory occupant protection during the side-impact test with a deformable barrier, scoring 14.2 out of 17. Both cars scored “OK” in the side pole impact testing, but the chest protection was deemed inadequate.

According to the GNCAP study, the body shell and footwell region of the Slavia and Virtus were stable and able to handle additional loadings. The vehicles also performed exceptionally well in tests for the safety of children inside, earning a 5-star rating with 42 out of a possible 49 points. The cars obtained a total of 24 points out of a possible 24 for the dynamic score while receiving a complete 12 points out of a possible 12 for the installation of the Child Restraint System (CRS). Both the Slavia and the Virtus were put through testing using dummies of children who were 18 months and 3 years old, both of whom were placed in the car using i-size anchorages and a support leg. In a frontal collision, the CRS prevented head exposure and offered complete side impact protection.
