Tata Harrier bumper & grille melt in Bengaluru heat!

Summer has arrived in most parts of the country, and reports about heatwaves and rising temperatures are emerging from different parts of the country. It appears that not only humans and animals but also vehicles are getting affected by extreme heat. Recently, we came across a tweet on the internet where a Tata Harrier owner complained that his SUV’s bumper and grille had melted after being parked outside in the hot Bengaluru sun. The owner also shared images of the melted panels on the SUV.

Saurav Nahata shared the images on Twitter. In the post, he mentions that he has been using a Tata Harrier since December 2021 and bought the car because of positive reviews of the build quality. However, after the bumper and grille allegedly melted under the sun, the customer was disappointed.

He wrote on Twitter, “I have been driving a Tata Harrier since December 2021. I bought the car because of good reviews on @TeamBHPforum and excellent online reviews of the build quality. This is what happened when my car was parked in the Bangalore sun for 10 hours on April 12th, and @TataMotors_Cars is now asking me to pay for it!” He added, “I am really surprised that an event like this is taken so lightly by @TataMotors_Cars. I have CCTV evidence that could be provided on request by my office to study the external factors under which a high-end, Made in India Tata car melted under sunlight. @ClubHarrier”

If you look at the comments or replies section of this tweet, you will find that the manufacturer responded to the customer. However, it appears that the customer was not satisfied with the resolution. He wrote, “Unfortunately, the resolution provided is for me to pay for this external factor-driven damage (sunlight) myself, without any fault on my side. Other cars parked at the same location under the same external factors had no issues whatsoever. #summer2023 #MeltingCar #MeltingHarrier #ActOfGOD”

Tata Harrier is currently one of the most popular SUVs in the country. It has been in the market since 2019, and the manufacturer is currently working on a facelift for this SUV. This is probably the first time an incident like this has been reported, where the plastic panels on a car have melted. If you look at the pictures, you can see that the plastic panel below the LED DRL has actually caved in, and the layer of paint is also coming off. The front grille on the SUV also has similar patterns, indicating that the grille has melted under heat. It is unclear whether the customer is facing issues with a specific portion of the grille and bumper. From the picture, it appears that only a section of the grille and bumper has been affected.

We hope that Tata takes the car in for a detailed inspection to determine the actual cause of the melting. Whether this is due to the sun or something else can only be revealed after that. Tata Harrier is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine that generates 170 Ps and 350 NM of peak torque. The SUV is available with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission.
